Checklist

The checklists are designed to help you complete your planning application so it can be dealt with as quickly as possible.

Please complete the applicable checklist and lodge it together with the necessary details, ensuring all the required information has been provided.

You are able to get assistance to fill in your checklist when your application is lodged in person.

Why are all the details needed?

Your application cannot be assessed without all the details required by the Residential Design Codes (R-Codes) and the District Planning Scheme.

In most cases, a correctly completed application will be processed faster. In some cases, applications may require further detail or consultation with other parties including neighbours or State agencies. Every effort will be made to ensure you are informed about your specific submission requirements.

Single or Grouped Dwellings (Planning Checklist)

If your proposal requires the exercise of discretion under the R-Codes, you must provide written justification for the variations sought with your application.

A copy of the Residential Design Codes can be viewed at Planning WA's website  to ensure your application provides ALL the necessary information.

This checklist is to be submitted with an Application for Approval to Commence Development Form - MRS Form 1, or a Codes Approval Application Form.

Commercial or Major Works (Environmentally Sustainable Design Checklist)

In pursuance of its commitment to sustainability, the City seeks to encourage the integration of environmentally sustainable design principles into the construction and redevelopment of commercial, mixed-use and residential buildings (excluding single and grouped dwellings, internal fit outs and minor extensions) within the City of Joondalup.  

Applications for these developments must be accompanied by a completed City of Joondalup - Environmentally Sustainable Design Checklist.
