Environment and Sustainability

The City's Environment Plan 2007-2011 identifies a number of key focus areas:

Land - To incorporate environmental considerations into major land approval and planning processes and to use external networks for establishing management and monitoring processes

Water - To enhance effective water management as well as monitoring and testing processes to achieve a high quality of natural water resources, to conduct communicaty awareness and ensure strom water managemen processes are established

Biodiversity - To ensure the effective protection and maintenance of the City's biodiversity

Air Quality - To continue to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and to monitor air quality within the City.

Waste Management - To continue to implement strategies and projects that aim to reduce the creation of waste, sustainably dispose of it and efficiently manage its recovery.
