Activities
Boating
There are two boat-launching ramps within the City. One is located at Hillarys Boat Harbour (Northside Dr) and another can be found at the Ocean Reef Boat Harbour (Boat Harbour Quays). Launching fees are applicable and contain ample parking for vehicles and boat trailers.
Water skiing
A substantial designated water ski area can be found directly north of Pinnaroo Point. Boats must launch from either of the two designated areas listed above.
Snorkelling
An abundance of local reef ensures there are a variety of fantastic snorkelling opportunities along the coast. The most popular areas are:
- Near the Marmion Angling Club (Marmion)
- Boyinaboat Reef (South side of Hillarys Marina)
- Burns Beach
Two further areas with excellent snorkelling opportunities are “Little Island” and “The Lumps,” but both of these locations are only accessible by boat.
Fishing
Fishing along the coast of Western Australia is superb and the City of Joondalup has a number of outstanding spots that are easy to access and guaranteed to whet the appetite of the keenest anglers. These include:
- Hillarys Boat Harbour (on any of the moles)
- Pinnaroo Point
- Mullaloo Beach ( north of the main carpark)
- Ocean Reef Boat Harbour

Animal exercise area
An excellent animal exercise beach for dogs and horses is located just south of Pinnaroo Point with abundant parking, doggy poo-uch bags, toilets and changerooms.

The City has just completed an access way that runs from Marmion up to Burns Beach, providing an ideal and safe setting for walking and cycling.
