Especially for Older Adults
The City of Joondalup libraries provide a range of services that allow older adults to continue to use and enjoy their libraries.
The Joondalup Library, the largest of the City of Joondalup libraries, offers some additional facilities including:
- A computer catalogue located near the large print collection has a larger screen and text to assist those who find regular print difficult to read. An Internet terminal located in the Reference Library, also features this type of screen
- Training sessions to learn the library’s online computer catalogue system are also provided free of charge
- Stories on audio CD, cassette or Playaway
- A wide selection of large print books in non-fiction and fiction categories
The City of Joondalup also provides a variety of great activities, resources and entertainment options for our older adult patrons including:
Live and Learn! Lifelong Learning for Older Adults
A free monthly program where older adults participate in discussions, enjoy presentations, meet others and enjoy morning tea. Live and Learn is held on the third Thursday of each month.
Books on Wheels Service
This is a free service that caters for older adults who, due to frailty or limited mobility, are unable to reach their public library. The service may also be used by people who have health problems, disabilities or those who are temporarily immobile.
