Oral History
If you grew up in the City of Joondalup and/or the City of Wanneroo area, and have memories of the changes in the area that you are willing to share, then we would love to hear from you.
The City's Oral History Collection has recorded interviews of people just like you. Their recollections add a very valuable and personal dimension to the Local History collection. Photographs that they have shared have also enhanced the Picture Joondalup Collection.
The Oral History Collection contains recorded interviews on CD that may be borrowed with a library membership card. You can find them on the library catalogue.
If your relative has completed an oral history interview, we can provide you with a copy of it free of charge. If you know someone who has a story to tell or if you are willing to be interviewed for our Oral History Collection, please contact the City on 9400 4746 or email.
Oral Histories and Picture Joondalup in YouTube
Historical photographs from Picture Joondalup and Oral History interviews are now combined using YouTube to create an audio slideshow about the City's history. Two YouTube audio slideshows will be featured monthly on the Picture Joondalup Catalogue. Full length Oral History interviews are available to borrow from the Local History Section at the Joondalup Library.
