Youth Awards
The City of Joondalup is committed to developing the potential of our community’s young people and has made available the ‘Focussing on the Future Youth Awards’.
Students in year 10 will be able to apply for an amount of $1000 disbursed over 2 years to assist them in completing their WACE studies or non WACE/ Alternate Studies.
Students and prospective students of Edith Cowan University are also able to apply for the $5000 “City of Joondalup Focussing on the Future ECU Award”.

Financial Counselling 
The City of Joondalup has Financial Counsellors available to visit your school to discuss money management and related issues such as credit contracts, for students in Years 11 and 12.
The Financial Counsellors are able to conduct these sessions in two different formats:
- One-hour information sessions for up to 30 students.
- A hands-on workshop for smaller groups involving interactive discussions and active participation by the students.
Requests for alternative formats of financial education can be discussed with the Financial Counsellors.

Upper High School Exam Resources 
All of the City’s Libraries hold resources for students:
- Past exam papers and solutions, as well as study guides for the WACE. Students may access these in the Reference area of the library by providing identification such as a membership card or student ID.
- Joondalup Reference Library has special resources for English Literature and Drama, including Masterplots, Monarch Notes and World’s Best Poetry. In addition to the general study area, students can take advantage of a private study room for group study.
- The Libraries also hold TAFE and University handbooks for further study information plus guides for STAT and career selection tests.
- Other useful resources available are free access to the Internet for research and, for a small fee, the use of a computer for word processing and printing.

Volunteering

The City of Joondalup offers students the opportunity to volunteer in a range of different projects and services including the Libraries, Citizenship Ceremonies and Cultural events.
Volunteering for the City provides:
- A chance for students to exercise responsibility and develop new skills by solving real-life problems through helping others
- The prospect of meeting new people and making new friends while building self-confidence
- The opportunity to experience the intrinsic value of giving to the community through community service.

Work Opportunities
If any of your students are interested in finding out about what local government has to offer in relation to a wide variety of career opportunities, the City of Joondalup has a number of initiatives that can be accessed by students:
- Work Experience – job placements can be arranged for students who would like an insight into a variety of roles. The broad range of services provided by the City of Joondalup offers a wide variety of jobs and work flexibility.
- Expos and Career Fairs – the City of Joondalup participates in a number of expos and career fairs during the year. These provide opportunities for students to talk to employees who already work at the City and to gather information on the types of careers we offer.
- Employment – the City offers roles that are suitable to students and young people in areas such as our Libraries. Find out more about available employment opportunities.

Youth Services and Programs
The City coordinates a range of events, activities, programs and services for young people aged 12 to 18 years. Many of these can take place within a school environment.
- Drop-In - during Breakfast Club or immediately after school.
- Parent workshops - a series of workshops to help parents, guardians and carers relate to their teenage children.
- Student workshops conducted by the Youth Services Team.

- Youth Mobile - a youth centre on wheels which is available to attend schools during and after school hours and particularly at school events
