Cultural Events
The City offers a range of engaging and innovative cultural activities for residents and visitors, including visual arts, performing arts, and arts and cultural development programs, as well as providing arts grants and funding opportunities.
Our events program has something for every age and taste, with activities programmed every month of the year. Key annual events include:
Sunday Serenades Concert Series (April – December)
Sunday Serenades features fine music from jazz to world music, opera and musical theatre.
The Exhibition has been running annually since 1998 and is considered the premier visual arts event for local artists.
NAIDOC Celebrations (July)
NAIDOC celebrates the history, culture and achievements of Australia's Indigenous peoples, and features exciting activities for all ages.
Performers of all ages to take the stage to participate in this iconic music, speech and drama competition.
The Award recognises the skills of contemporary Western Australian artists, with the winning work becoming part of the City’s Art Collection.
The Festival offers free fun and excitement for children under 12 and their families, with engaging, hands-on activities.
Make the most of summer with free performances by some of WA's finest musicians, in the City's beautiful parks and reserves.
Where WA's creative culture comes together, with design, crafts, fashion, jewellery, gifts, and free live music and children's activities.
This romantic free event features world-class entertainers in the spectacular surrounds of the Joondalup Resort.
A free event not to be missed, featuring music, fashion, food, street arts, children's activities, a street parade and so much more.
Library Events
City Libraries offer a wide range of programs and events to support lifelong learning opportunities for all ages. These include Discovery Sessions, Book Clubs, Games Sessions, Live and Learn for older adults, regular Story Time sessions and Baby Rhyme Time, English Conversation Classes, Family History Courses, Genie Exchange plus a wide range of holiday and reading activities.
We also support local, national and international authors through our Meet the Author talks.
Recreation and Leisure Events
The City offers a exciting range of sport and recreation facilities, activities and events.
The City is a proud sponsor of the annual Freeway Bike Hike for Asthma, which concludes in the Joondalup City Centre.
The City's three Leisure Centres cater for all your health and fitness needs, with a year-round program of events and activities.
Youth Events
The City coordinates a range of events, activities, programs and services for young people aged 12 to 18 years.
