Urban Couture returns in 2012 with a four week program packed full of Western Australian designers, artists and photographers across the month of March including the festival weekend.

The 2012 Joondalup Festival presents Urban Couture, a program of free fashion events for all lovers of couture.

Featuring the works of local fashion designers and contemporary artists in a showcase of Wearable Art. Marvel at the extraordinary garments and jewellery pieces crossing the line between fashion and art.

Strike a Pose
13 March - 1 April
blend(er) gallery
Monday – Thursday 10.00am – 2.00pm
Friday – Sunday 1.00pm – 7.00pm

Fashion photographers capture model moments on camera in a striking portrait of the modern fashion industry. Works include Aaron McPolin, Hazel Buckley, Lottie Moore, Candice Hough-Neilson, Christophe Canato, David Broadway, Natalie Blom and Scott Free.

blend(er) gallery also featuring the annual Joondalup Community Arts Association members exhibition. At 6.00pm on Wednesday 21 March, Lorelei Smit will be giving a practical workshop on how to recycle clothing at the blend(er) gallery workshop. Participants will learn fashion drawing and sewing techniques in creating original garments from recycled clothing. Pop up Parades

The streets of the City Centre burst into life as fashion parades are flaunted at two unique locations. The runways see over 300 locally designed garments paraded in 12 spectacular shows over the Joondalup Festival weekend. Be captivated by the stunning original designs of our local fashionistas.

Restyle Marketplace
31 March – 1 April

In a stylish corner of the Festival Marketplace you will find a chic open air shopping precinct featuring clothing, shoes and accessories from West Australian designers. Pick up a unique piece to add to your wardrobe and stand out from the crowd.

Fashion precinct also featuring the works from Recreate, a series of carbon free fashion and accessory workshops. Recreate catered to the beginner fashionista with the idea of creating high end fashion garments and accessories using reclaimed items such as newspapers, soft drink bottles, rubber tubing, plastic and more.

Shoot Me!
31 March – 1 April

3.00pm – 7.00pm

Embrace your inner model in a live photo shoot where you get to keep the pics for free! Step into the giant size fashion photo booth equipped with professional photographer and pint sized beauty salon. Grab your friends or go it solo and pose like a supermodel for the camera.

The 2012 Joondalup Festival will say farewell with a not-to-be-missed fashion, VJ and fire finale. Pull up a cosy beanbag and enjoy the closing moments under the stars.
