Bluegrass Parkway – 7.00pm
Fresh from a triumphant US tour, Australia’s longest-running bluegrass band will bring you authentic 1940-50s style sounds from way down south.
What sets this band apart from others is the priority they have placed on presenting Bluegrass music in its most authentic form. Not only does the audience get a taste of Bluegrass music 40s and 50s style, it is also able to enjoy strong three and four part harmonies as well as witnessing some pretty fancy footwork too!
The group has been performing together for over 23 years and has successfully released four albums, the most recent being the critically acclaimed ‘A Girl from the South’. They have toured extensively, with an involvement in almost every major and minor folk and country music festivals throughout Australia, New Zealand and more recently, a series of bluegrass festivals in the United States in 2005 and 2009.
The Big Old Bears – 7.30pm
With their high-energy, fiddle-grinding tunes, eccentric instrumentation and fun, old-timey feel, the Big Old Bears will keep your ears happy and your feet a-tappin’.
Big Old Bears started off as a solo music project of David Craft, but then as friends started joining, the project evolved into a dedicated five piece collective. The young musicians combine traditional music with contemporary music to create a new sound with an old-timey feel.
2010 saw the release of their debut EP 'Tales of You', which received positive reviews and was picked up by radio stations nationwide. Currently the boys are content with working on new sounds and new songs to please the audiences of their hometown.
Zydecats – 8.15pm
Known to play up to 25 instruments in one show – The Zydecats will have you shaking and swinging to their roots flavoured music for all of the evening. With a swingin’ mix of Zydeoco, rockabilly, jump and blues sounds, world music legends Zydecats are the funniest and most eclectic band this side of Louisiana.
Unfortunately Zydecats’ great Lucky Oceans won’t be able to attend this event, however the band’s strong line-up consisting of Bill Rogers, Ric Eastman, Graeme Bell and Kent Hughes (previously collaborating with Lucky in the critically acclaimed Dude Ranch), are sure to impress, and guaranteed to get you movin’.
