Metropolitan Local Government Reform
An independent review panel has been appointed by the Minister for Local Government, the Hon. John Castrilli MLA, to submit recommendations on appropriate boundaries and governance models for local governments in the Perth metropolitan area.
The Metropolitan Local Government Review Panel’s members consist of:
- Professor Alan Robson AM CitWA, Current Vice Chancellor of The University of Western Australia
- Dr Peter Tannock, Former Vice Chancellor of the University of Notre Dame
- Dr Sue van Leeuwen, CEO of Leadership Western Australia, an independent, not-for-profit organisation whose vision is to enhance leadership excellence across Western Australia

An Issues Paper considering what the Perth Metropolitan Area should/could look like in the next 20 to 50 years has been developed by the Panel and the public comment period has now closed.
The City has provided its submission on the Issues Paper which is available for public viewing.
The Metropolitan Local Government Review Panel released its Draft Findings in relation to the proposed reform of local government in the Perth Metropolitan Area, on Friday 27 April 2012, with a four week consultation period to follow, with submissions due on Friday 25 May 2012.
