Community Development Funding
Round One 2011 - 2012
Funding in the amount of $25,000 is available in the Community Development Fund, to be divided across two funding rounds this financial year.
These grants aim to support not-for-profit community groups, organisations and schools with initaitives that bring positive benefits to any of the following groups:
- Youth
- Seniors
- Children
- People with disabilities
- People from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds
- Volunteers
Some real life case studies of projects that have recently received funding through the City's Community Development Funding Program are:
Joondalup Mens Shed - Mobile Workshop
The Joondalup Mens Shed (JMS) received $3,000 to equip and fitout a mobile workshop trailer which will be employed helping seniors, people with a disability, financially disadvantaged individuals and other community organizations within the City of Joondalup with general handy man projects.
This project will also provide members of the JMS with meaningful activities which have been strongly linked to physical, mental and psychological health improvement outcomes.
Padbury Primary School - Community Links Project
Padbury Primary School received $1,900 to purchase educational books and resources to support the school's Early Childhood Literacy Program and the development of stronger home-school-wider community partnerships.
The Community Links Project aims to provide parents and intergenerational carers (such as grandparents) of 0-4 year old children, with an additional avenue of support and advice on child development matters and to help meet the educational needs of pre-compulsory primary school aged children in Padbury.
Whitfords Church of Christ Seniors Group - Bus Hire Assistance
The Whitfords Church of Christ Seniors Group received $600 to assist with bus hire to enable 3 social group outings for members this year.
The group’s aim is to cater to senior citizens who do not get many other opportunities to go out and socialise, and to give them a chance to be part of a caring and interesting social support group.
