City of Joondalup Strategic Community Plan 2012-2022
The City is proactively engaging with local residents to listen to their views and opinions on the needs and priorities for the Joondalup community over the next 10 years. The Strategic Community Plan 2012-2022 will be an important document that identifies how the City will grow and develop in the future.
A thorough community consultation and engagement process is already underway to ensure residents get an opportunity to provide input and feedback. It is vital that members of the community take this chance to have a say and shape the future of their neighbourhoods and suburbs.
It is important for the City to build on its outstanding achievement of being named the World’s Most Liveable City in 2011 at the UN-endorsed International Awards for Liveable Communities.
This award recognises and acknowledges Joondalup as having an engaged and connected community, which is why receiving submissions and feedback from local residents about their needs and priorities over the next 10 years is a priority for the City.
The engagement process is called “Shaping our Future: Joondalup 2022”. An online survey is available on the City’s website and three Stakeholder Roundtable sessions have been organised for interested residents.
These engagement opportunities demonstrate that the City is committed to getting in touch with its community to seek feedback in a meaningful and purposeful way to ensure residents are engaged in local decision making as we plan for the future.
The City will be actively encouraging the community to participate in this important process throughout April and May. All participants in the Shaping our Future initiative will go into a draw to win an Apple iPad.
Three Stakeholder Round Table Sessions and workshops will be held to ensure a good cross-section of residents get an opportunity to engage and provide input on the future growth of the City.
Residents who live in the northern suburbs of the City can attend a workshop on Monday 30 April, between 6.30pm and 8.30pm at the Connolly Community Centre.
Residents who live in the southern suburbs can attend a workshop Thursday 10 May, between 6.30pm and 8.30pm at the Dorchester Hall in Warwick.
Those residents living in the central suburbs of the City can attend a workshop on Thursday 17 May, between 6.30pm and 8.30pm at the Gibson Park Community Facility in Padbury.
Residents who want more information about the consultation process or the workshops should call 9400 4253 or visit the City's website.
