Road Safety
The City is committed to improving road safety on our local roads to reduce the risk of road trauma. In order to achieve this objective, the City conducts, supports and promotes various road safety initiatives. The WA State Road Safety Strategy called 'Towards Zero: 2008-2020' provides overarching direction to reduce road trauma.

Bin Stickers - Please Slow Down Consider Our Kids
The City provides “Please Slow Down Consider Our Kids” bin stickers to place on the side of domestic waste bins. The bin stickers act as a reminder to motorists to abide by the speed limit. If you would like a sticker for your bin, please complete the online form and the City will mail it to you.
School Visits and Investigations
The City’s traffic team visits schools to discuss road safety issues with Principals and P&C committee members. The most common problems are parking and congestion. The team assesses the situation and provides possible solutions to these problems. Schools are encouraged to form School Road Safety Committees to solve issues with guidance from the WALGA RoadWise Program's Guidelines for Road Safety Around Schools. The City also encourages schools to use the materials produced by the ‘School Drug Education and RoadAware’ program.
School Road Safety Art Competition
The City runs the School Road Safety Art Competition which aims to raise awareness of road safety issues. Students create A3 artworks on specific road safety themes. Schools are notified about the competition during term two and the competition runs during term three . Students who win are presented with their prizes at an awards presentation.
