Frequently Asked Questions
Why has the City introduced parking restrictions and charges for parking in the Joondalup City Centre?
The City Centre is growing rapidly with the expansion of the commercial and education sector and further development of residential properties. Paid parking ensures parking is regulated within the City Centre to enable a fair and equitable use of parking facilities.
Revenue raised from paid parking will be used to fund the City’s future parking needs as the City continues to grow.
Where will my visitors be able to park if I live in the City Centre?
Parking before 8.00am and after 5.30pm on Monday to Friday and after 12 noon on Saturday is free in all areas of the City Centre. This means that parking for visitors to your home will still be available and convenient during these times.
If your home is located within one of the residential permit areas of the City Centre then visitors to your home, between the hours of 9.00am and 5.00pm on Monday to Friday (excluding Public Holidays), will have to either utilise any private on-site parking you may have available or display a visitor parking permit when parked on the street.
Why has the City introduced construction site parking permits?
As building works increase within the City Centre, there is a need to regulate parking areas adjacent to building sites for the benefit of local residents, business owners, visitors and individual builders.
Construction site parking permits allow for the exclusive use of parking bays for loading and unloading materials and for parking construction vehicles visiting the site.
A daily charge from Monday to Saturday applies for the use of the parking bays or parking areas.
Is a construction site parking permit the same as a hoarding licence?
No.
A hoarding licence is a permit, which allows a builder to store building materials on a street, a way or other public place behind a fence or hoarding. Materials that can be stored may include bricks, timber, iron, site offices and storage sheds.
Construction site parking permits are permits to load or unload materials or for the parking of vehicles relating to the construction site during the construction of a building. Construction site parking permits apply to the Joondalup City Centre area only. A separate application is required for each permit.
How do I apply for a hoarding licence and/or a construction site parking permit?
