Parking for People with Disabilities
ACROD parking permits should be clearly displayed on the passenger side of the dashboard. This will establish eligibility for the use of easy access bays and any parking concessions provided by the City of Joondalup for people with disabilities. The Office of National Disability Services, Western Australia, distributes ACROD Parking Permits.
Time restricted areas
In a time restricted area, (for example: one or two hours), a vehicle displaying a valid ACROD permit can park for double the time allowance.
Paid ticket parking - no time restriction
In a paid parking area where no time restriction applies, a vehicle that displays a valid ACROD parking permit, can park for double the amount of time purchased and displayed on a valid parking ticket.
Paid ticket parking - time restriction
In a paid parking area where a time restriction applies, a vehicle displaying a valid ACROD permit can park for double the amount of time purchased and displayed on a valid parking ticket, but is limited to a maximum of double the time allowed by the time restriction. For example: ½ hour x 2 = one hour maximum stay. Where a ticket is purchased for a lesser time than the time restriction, the City will allow double the amount of time purchased provided a ticket is properly displayed.
General parking
If an easy access bay is not available and a standard parking bay has to be used, the parking concessions outlined in this policy apply provided a valid ACROD permit is properly displayed.
