Pilot Transport Program (Positive Ageing)
Are you unable to get to a medical appointment due to illness and financial hardship?
Are you also ineligible for other government subsidised transport services?*
The Volunteer Task Force with a grant from the City of Joondalup are conducting a Pilot Transport Service to meet a need in the community. This service is for:
- City of Joondalup residents.
- People of all ages – but specifically targeted to those over 60 years.
- Short term incapacity due to illness/accident – less than 6 months.
- Medical appointments in the City of Joondalup or to main hospitals eg. Osborne Park, Sir Charles Gairdner or Royal Perth.
- People assessed as not eligible for other Government subsidised services.
- People of limited financial means, pensioners, health care card recipients etc.
- Limited service may be offered to people who are undergoing intensive oncology or dialysis treatments.
Referrals and who to contact
Referrals can be made by:
- City of Joondalup
- Commonwealth Carelink
- Hospital social workers
- General Practitioners and
- residents themselves.

Cost of Service
The cost of transport service will be aligned with the current VTF fare schedule. As a guide each trip is considered in terms of a one way journey:
- 0-30kms $7 per trip
- 31-50kms $9 per trip
The service will be delivered in the majority by Taxi fleets and will require clients to be batched where ever possible with others on similar destinations at similar times.
