Revaluation 2011/2012
Every three years the Valuer General reassesses the Gross Rental Values for all properties within the metropolitan area. All rateable properties in the City of Joondalup are included in this triennial revaluation. Rates for 2011/2012 are based on the new Gross Rental Value (GRV).
The GRV is determined by the Valuer General to be a fair yearly rental value for a property based on statistics from property managers, owners and other sources. Using this valuation method means that properties are rated at their income earning potential rather than their resale value.
Gross Rental Values are affected by many factors including the age of a house, the number of bedrooms and bathrooms it has, whether it has a pool and the property’s location.
Ratepayers who are dissatisfied with their valuation may object to the Valuer General. Objections must be lodged in writing to

within 60 days of the issue of the Rates Notice.
Rates must be paid as per the original Rates Notice, irrespective of whether an objection has been lodged. If the valuation is to be reduced as a result of the objection, a refund will be issued.
