360 Litre Recycling Bin Trial
In order to increase the amount of materials recycled in the City, a trial of larger capacity recycling bins (360 litre) will be conducted. The objective is to increase household recycling capacity without increasing costs of extra weekly collections. The trial will initially target households that regularly find they do not have enough space to recycle all items in their existing 240 litre bins. Residents can register their interest in obtaining a bin with a 360 litre capacity at 9400 4255 or by email firstname.lastname@example.org. To find out your recycling days, check the 2016-2017 Recycling Calendar.
Garage Sale Trail 2016
For a fourth successive year, the City of Joondalup is supporting the Garage Sale Trail initiative in an effort to connect local communities and reduce the amount of waste making its way to landfill.
The 2016 Garage Sale Trail will involve co-ordinated garage sales throughout the country on Saturday 22 October 2016.
If you could like to register your garage sale, please visit www.garagesaletrail.com.au and you can also search this site for sales in your local area.
Tree Lopper Services
The City of Joondalup is aware that some tree loppers have been advertising directly to residents that green waste collections are commencing in their suburb soon. Please be aware that the City of Joondalup does not have commercial agreements or relationships with tree loppers or any other contractor in relation to green waste collections. Residents should check with the City for accurate collection dates before placing material on their verge for collection.

No Glass Campaign
You may have noticed a 'No Glass in this bin' sticker on your green-lidded bin. Mindarie Regional Council, in conjunction with the City of Joondalup and three other local authorities in WA, are currently running a No Glass campaign. This campaign aims to reduce glass contamination in the general waste bin to improve recycling outcomes. The contents of your green-lidded bin are processed at the Resource Recovery Facility (RRF), where the organic content is composted into market quality soil enhancers or compost. The sticker should also have been accompanied by an explanatory leaflet in your letter box.
