Bulk Green Waste
There are three different ways to recycle your green waste in the City. Use all three or choose what suits you best.
1. Verge Collection - Bulk green waste only
The Bulk Green Waste verge collection schedule is for clean, garden waste only.
Please see the City’s Waste Management Search Tool to find your collection date or check out the area map in the Domestic waste and recycling guide 2016/2017. Please note the schedule finishes in May 2017, the continued collection schedule will be advertised when a new contractor is appointed. What you can put out for this service includes:
- Tree limbs, branches, roots and small logs (sizes below)
- Palm leaves
- Any garden waste too big for your green lid bin
- Tree lopping and garden pruning’s
Green waste must be trimmed in accordance with the following guidelines:
- Side branches must be trimmed off and be no longer than 1.5m in length
- Branches more than 150mm in diameter must be cut into 300mm lengths
- All green waste must be placed loose on the verge with no use of boxes, bags or containers.
The material collected as part of this service will be shredded and mulched. This mulch is used on the City's parks and gardens.
When to place Bulk Green Waste out
Bulk Green waste can be placed on verges no earlier than 10 days before collection date. Residents should check with the City for accurate collection dates before placing material on their verge for collection. The City will place signs on the road reserve a week before collection and place an advertisement in the local community newspaper outlining:
- Date of the service
- Map of the area to be covered
- Conditions for the collection.
Note: Please do not place bulk green waste on synthetic grass or stencilled painted areas. The City is not liable for damage to these areas.
2. Use your green lid bin
Smaller organic waste items such as grass cuttings, bush trimmings, leaves, etc, should be placed in your domestic green lid bin. The contents of this bin are delivered to the Resource Recovery Facility in Neerabup where the organics are converted into compost.
