Materials Recovery Facility

What is the Materials Recovery Facility?
After your recycling is collected, they are taken to the Materials Recovery Facility (MRF). All recyclables pass through a series of conveyors and screens to separate the material according to size.
Employees at the facility then manually remove contamination (items that cannot be recycled). Plastic, paper and cardboard are individually baled and sold for recycling into new items.
