Youth Liaison
Heading out late night shopping? Meeting up with friends? Why not look out for the City of Joondalup Youth Liaison Workers and say hi.
Youth liaison workers are very similar to youth workers. They have the same skills, knowledge and qualification but their focus is to provide services in shopping centres.
Location and Times
6.00 to 9.00pm Thursdays (late night Shopping) at Lakeside Shopping Centre, Joondalup.
Services
Youth liaison workers are based at the Centre to:
- Chat to young people
- Work with young people to make them feel welcome
- Provide information on your rights and responsibilities in shopping centres
- Mediate with centre staff and other shoppers on your behalf when needed
- Provide information on any agencies, information or services you might want to access
- Youth liaison workers have loads of freebies to give away.
Program
This joint program involving the City of Joondalup and shopping centre management promotes safe and non-discriminatory use of public shopping centres by young people and other members of the community. Two person teams of youth liaison workers, employed by the City of Joondalup, deliver the program. They will happily provide information, referrals and a friendly ear.
