THE City of Joondalup welcomed 75 new Australian citizens at its Australia Day citizenship ceremony last week. The new Australians took their oath citizenship pledge in front of a crowd of 200 that included Premier Colin Barnett.

PLANNING for the City’s changing demographics will be a priority for the council this year, according to Mayor Troy Pickard. Presently 14 per cent of the City’s population are over 60, but 17 per cent are aged between 50 and 59.

SCHOOLS across the northern suburbs are collecting batteries. Several have signed up to Mindarie Regional Council’s battery program and have battery bins where old batteries can be disposed of.
