2018 Little Feet Festival promises jungle safari adventure
Children are advised to circle Sunday 21 October on the family calendar. That’s the date the City of Joondalup’s Little Feet Festival returns in 2018.
This year’s festival theme is ‘On Safari’ with a packed festival program of free activities dedicated to children aged 12 and under, which promises to take young explorers on a safari adventure.
Widely regarded as the region’s biggest cultural event for young families, the Little Feet Festival will again (unofficially) kickstart the City’s exciting summer events program.
About 8,000 people are expected to attend this year’s festival with more families coming from outside the region to attend as word spreads across schoolyards and playgrounds throughout Perth about how much fun there is to be had.
There truly is something on offer for everyone.
After collecting a passport on arrival, young explorers can venture deep into the jungle to discover animals in their natural habitats through fun-filled activities, facilitated art workshops, performances and more.
Kids can make their own animal puppets or safari hats, take part in various zoo games or just sit back, relax and listen to jungle stories. Face painting, balloons and bubbles will be on offer throughout the event site and patrons are encouraged to stop by the junior wild vet hospital, safari truck and butterfly house.
Children and their parents can take part in an animal yoga and zoo class and there is again an area dedicated exclusively to toddlers.
Organisers promise one or two other very large surprises on the day.
Joondalup Mayor Albert Jacob said he was looking forward to seeing lots of young families enjoying an afternoon of free family-friendly fun.
“I will be bringing my young children like many other families across the northern corridor to see all this year’s Little Feet Festival attractions and entertainment as this is one of the must-attend events of the year,” he said.
“Our City remains committed to delivering an outstanding range of free engaging cultural experiences for all ages, including our youngest residents. The ‘On Safari’ theme should prove a real hit.”
Entry and participation in all activities is free but children must be accompanied by an adult. Food and drink will be available for purchase and passports will be available on arrival.
The Little Feet Festival is proudly sponsored by St Stephen’s School, Community Newspaper Group and Nova 937.
