2019 Skate Park Festival

February is a big month for local skate boarders, BMX enthusiasts and scooter riders as the City of Joondalup’s Skate Park Festival kicks off for 2019 at Carine Skate Park on Saturday 2 February.

Joondalup has joined forces with the City of Stirling to host the first of three BMX, skate and scooter competitions exclusively for boys and girls aged 11-25 years.

Two further competitions will be staged at Kinross Skate Park on Saturday 9 February and Mirror Park, Skate Park, Ocean Reef on Saturday 23 February.

Registration is from 12.00noon on the day of each event with competitions commencing at 1.00pm.

Overall and individual awards will be presented throughout the series. For those not taking part in the action itself, there will still be plenty to keep them entertained including amusement rides, art workshops and local DJs.

Entry for competitors is $3.00

A separate BMX-only competition will be staged at the pump and jump track at Shepherd’s Bush Park, Kingsley on Saturday 16 February.

Registration for that event is from 2.00pm with the competition getting underway at 3.00pm. Entry for competitors is $3.00.

Joondalup Mayor Albert Jacob said he was looking forward to seeing local youth display their skate, scooter and BMX talents in front of some big crowds.

“This outstanding series gives young people a chance to compete on a big stage for the chance to win some great prizes in a fun and safe environment,” he said.

The series is sponsored by Beyond Skate and Local BMX.
