2022 Valentine’s Concert to get the Jitterbug into your Brain

The music of iconic British singer-songwriter George Michael will be on show at the City of Joondalup’s Valentine’s Concert at Joondalup Resort on Thursday 10 February 2022.

The concert promises to deliver an unforgettable night of entertainment, celebrating the man who brought soul to the pop world.

Perth Symphony Orchestra (PSO) will perform the Music of George Michael, with the audience taken on a remarkable journey of emotions in a 90 minute scripted show.

Also featuring Perth’s finest voices from the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA) Gospel Choir, the audience is sure to be singing and dancing along to classic hits including Faith, Careless Whisper, Freedom, I’m Your Man and many more.

PSO Founder and CEO Bourby Webster said the George Michael show was, and remains, one of the most magical performances Perth Symphony has ever produced.

“His music played by an orchestra is timeless with hit after hit, and the WAAPA Gospel Choir brings the magic,” Ms Webster said.

“It’s a truly memorable concert and we can’t wait to perform it again in such an incredible setting. We know it will be a night to remember.”

Joondalup Mayor Albert Jacob said the City was proud to once again deliver its premier music event.

“Every year the picturesque grounds of the Joondalup Resort are transformed into a world-class outdoor concert venue for this wonderful event,” Mayor Jacob said.

“The Valentine’s Concert has been running since 2005 and has long had the reputation of being one of the most popular events which the City stages, providing a relaxing and memorable evening for attendees whilst giving them the opportunity to witness outstanding entertainment.

“Not even a pandemic and subsequent lockdown could stop us last summer, and we look forward to bringing another memorable and COVID-safe concert to our residents and ratepayers next February.

“As always, the City will monitor all relevant directions relating to COVID-19 and follow the appropriate State Government health advice, but we are planning for an unforgettable night of entertainment under the stars at the stunning Joondalup Resort.”

City of Joondalup residents and ratepayers will get first opportunity to purchase tickets in an exclusive pre-sale from 9.00am Monday 15 November 2021. Ticket sales open to the general public from 9.00am Monday 29 November 2021.

Tickets are $35.00 for residents and ratepayers, $30.00 for residents with a valid concession card, $45.00 for non-residents, $40.00 for non-residents with a valid concession card and $20.00 for children.

Tickets will be available for purchase via online ticketing agent Ticketbooth. Customers that require assistance can contact Ticketbooth for support or visit the City of Joondalup Customer Service Centre during business hours to purchase tickets.

“Despite the significant costs associated with large-scale, modern concert productions, it is pleasing that the City continues to offer a heavily subsidised ticket price,” Mayor Jacob said.

“The fee will assist the City to ensure one of the northern corridor’s biggest music events can continue to be delivered despite the increasing costs associated with staging the concert.”

The City acknowledges premier partners Edith Cowan University and Joondalup Health Campus, and media partner Channel Seven Perth for their support of the Valentine’s Concert.
