Plastic Free July

Plastic Free JulyPlastic Free July is recognised globally as an annual month of global action where individuals, businesses and governments come together to take action to reduce plastic waste, creating a social change movement. By sharing ideas, positive actions and stories of change, Plastic Free July helps people and organisations “choose to refuse” single-use plastic everyday. Last year, an estimated 140 million people worldwide took part in Plastic Free July. On average, participants reduced their household waste and recycling by 15kg per person. As part of the City’s ongoing efforts to reduce waste going into landfill and to protect the environment, the City has partnered with the Plastic Free July organisation to help the community take action to end plastic waste. There are plenty of workshops and webinars that residents can attend in the lead up to July, and during July to learn ways in which they can reduce the use of plastic:

North Coast Water Polo Club

If you are interested in joining a family focused and friendly club, come along and say hello at a training session. If you want to know more about email secretary@northcoastwaterpolo.com. An out of season winter training program is available for both juniors and seniors, Flipperball, and in-season summer training and fixtures for both juniors and seniors. Flippaball is a modified non-contact version of mixed water polo for boys and girls in Years 3 – 7 (ages 7 to 12).    

West Coast Wolverines

West Coast Wolverines is an American football (gridiron) club. The West Coast Wolverines consist of an Under 19 squad (age 14-18), a women’s squad (age 16+) and a men’s squad (age 19+) with the season typically running from October to February. Training is held at Warrandyte Park, Craigie during the season. The West Coast Wolverines also run a flag football league. Flag football is the fun, social, non-tackle version and a great introduction into the wonderful game of American football. Games are on Monday nights with the season running from April to July at Warrandyte Park, Craigie. For more information email info@westcoastwolverines.com.au.
