Carnival of Colour

Spring is the perfect time to reconnect with nature, explore, and get creative. Join Joondalup Libraries these school holidays for a range of colourful activities to celebrate Spring.

Cost is $4.00 per child per activity and payment online is necessary to secure your place. Bookings are essential and open online from Monday 13 September 2021, 9.30am.

There is a maximum of three events per child and parents/carers of children under 12 years are required by library policy to remain in the building while their children attend the event.

Please note there will be no refunds issued.

What’s on offer

Wonderful World of Worms

Wednesday 29 September, 10.00am – 11.00am, Duncraig Library

Let’s look, talk and play with worms. Learn about these amazing creatures and how they can win the war on waste in your own home. You will also make a small newspaper pot plant with some worm castings to take home. For ages 5 to 12 years

 

Watercolour galaxy

Thursday 30 September, 2.00pm – 3.30pm, Joondalup Library

Are you fascinated with the stars in the sky? Have fun experimenting with watercolour paints and create your own galaxy painting inspired by the picture book ‘How to catch a star’ by Oliver Jeffers. For ages 5 to 8 years.

 

Magic of Nature

Monday 4 October, 10.00am – 11.00am, Woodvale Library

Join Faerie Cara from the Eco Faeries and discover the magic of nature through stories, songs and dancing. In this fun and interactive session, children will also learn about recycling and gardening, and create their very own terrarium to take home. For ages 4 to 8 years.

 

Drawing with Colour and Creativity

Tuesday 5 October, 10.00am – 12.00noon, Whitford Library

Young artists who are inspired by our unique natural environment are encouraged to come along and draw. Work with Invitation Art Prize artist Leanne Bray to create still life drawings of local fauna and flora. These drawings will help develop and inspire a large scale mural design. For ages 8 to 12 years

 

Spring Diorama

Tuesday 5 October, 2.00pm – 3.00pm, Duncraig Library

Celebrate the change of season by making your own spring diorama. Use your creativity to make insects, flowers or anything that reminds you of spring. For ages 5 to 12 years.

 

Lego Library Masters

Wednesday 6 October, 2.00pm – 3.30pm, Woodvale Library

Challenge the Lego Masters of the future by testing their creativity, speed and building skills. Who will be awarded the Library Lego Trophy? For ages 7 to 12 years.

 

Geometric Canvas Painting

Thursday 7 October, 10.00am – 11.30am, Joondalup Library

If you love working with paint and colour, then this workshop is for you. Experiment with tape to create shapes and develop a colour pallet to produce an eye-catching piece of art to hang on you wall. For ages 8 to 12 years.

 

Hairy Maclary Fun

Friday 8 October, 2.00pm – 3.30pm, Whitford Library

Bottomly Pots all covered in spots, Hercules Morse as big as a horse…Come and celebrate the 80th Birthday of Lynley Dodd, creator of the wonderful Hairy Maclary books. In this fun workshop there will be stories, craft activities, and the opportunity to spend time with Pip the Story Dog, a real life Golden Retriever. For ages 5 to 8 years.

 

Pyjama Story Time – Free

Thursday 30 September, 5.00pm – 6.00pm, Woodvale Library

Put on your pyjamas, bring your favourite teddy bear and get ready for a bear hunt, as we read our favourite childhood stories. For ages 2 to 6 years.

 

Hairy Maclary Treasure Hunt – Free

Celebrate the 80th birthday of Lynley Dodd, the creator of the Hairy Maclary books. Visit the Libraries anytime during the school holidays to participate in the Treasure Hunt, and you could win a Dymocks book voucher. Free activity. No bookings required. For ages 5 to 12 years.
