30 June 2015 Business Forum – slides
Small Business is Big Business
Small and micro sized enterprises with less than 20 employees represent almost 98% of City of Joondalup businesses and make a vital contribution to the local economy. The City recognises that the success of the small business sector is a critical factor in increasing local employment opportunities.
City of Joondalup CEO Garry Hunt welcomed around 170 stakeholders to the Forum, with Mayor Troy Pickard providing the opening address. The Forum focused on small business support and raising awareness of programmes and opportunities aimed at driving business growth.
Small Business Development Corporation (SBDC) Commissioner David Eaton presented an overview of the State Government funded Business Local programme. Business Station staff were introduced to the audience, and local businesses were encouraged to connect with them at the Joondalup ECU Business and Innovation Centre for business advisory services.
The Forum also included a business interview between City of Joondalup CEO Garry Hunt and John Vickers, CEO of award-winning Joondalup business SEQTA.
