The City of Joondalup is seeking Expression of Interest (EOI) for the provision of Event Management Services to successfully own, develop, manage, plan and deliver a Joondalup Classic Car Racing Event in the Joondalup City Centre.

In late-2020, the Joondalup Council unanimously endorsed progressing a major event within the City, that being a Vintage Car Speed Classic.

A Joondalup City Speed Classic event was held shortly after the establishment of the City of Joondalup in the late-1990s, which provided family friendly entertainment and promoted the City as the ‘Heart of the North’ after its split from the City of Wanneroo.

The City has been working to deliver significant events to enhance tourism and stimulate the local economy, strengthening Joondalup’s reputation and image as a Destination City.

The City has hosted or supported major events including AFL pre-season matches, Soundwave and Future Music Festival, as well as delivering major community events such as the Joondalup Festival and Valentine’s Concert.

In addition, the City hosts and supports smaller community events such as the Heathridge Carols in the Park and other community group fairs and fêtes.

Joondalup Mayor Albert Jacob said holding events is part of the City’s social fabric of life, bringing people together to enjoy experiences as well as enhancing community engagement and spirit.

“Attracting significant events such as a Classic Car Racing event is part of the City’s strategy to position Joondalup as a destination that attracts visitors with a diverse mix of iconic events with local, national and international appeal,” Mayor Jacob said.

“We are looking for a service provider to successfully deliver this event, with the City being a key stakeholder and sponsor.

“I am very confident that the event will prove to be a great success and something we could look to hold on an annual basis going forward.”

Details of the Conditions of Submission, Scope, and Selection Criteria are provided in the City’s Expression of Interest (EOI) Document, which are available to download via the City’s Procurement Portal.

Submissions close at 2.00pm WST on Friday 25 June 2021.
