City to charge subsidised admission to 2019 Valentines Concert, All You Need is Love

Jack Jones, Wes Carr, Rai Thistlethwayte and Jackson Thomas, backed by the Perth Symphony Orchestra, will bring the music of The Beatles to the Joondalup Resort on Thursday 14 February 2019 for the WA premiere of All You Need is Love.

The City of Joondalup’s Valentine’s Concert has been running since 2005 at Joondalup Resort in a variety of formats with the concert and musical acts and performers growing in stature in recent years.

Given the significant costs associated with large scale, modern concert productions – and to ensure the event can continue to deliver outstanding musical acts – the City will introduce a fee for tickets to its 2019 Valentine’s Concert, one of the northern corridor’s biggest music events.

Charging a fee will assist in ensuring the concert can continue to grow as a signature WA event, hosted in Joondalup primarily for its local community.

Ticket prices will be set at $25.00 for residents, $20.00 for residents with a valid concession card, $10.00 for children and $35.00 for non-residents.

Joondalup residents will get first opportunity to purchase tickets from 5 – 19 November 2018. Thereafter, tickets will be made available to people outside the City for the first time.

The City continues to subsidise the Valentine’s Concert performance with a recent run of All You Need Is Love at other venues in Sydney and Melbourne selling from $89 per ticket.

Tickets will be available online through Ticketbooth. Customers who require assistance can contact Ticketbooth for support or visit a City of Joondalup Customer Service Centre during business hours to purchase tickets.

Background information

The City spends over $300,000 to deliver the Valentine’s Concert every year with only 8,000 of the City’s 161,000 residents being able to attend on the night due to the venue capacity.

The City’s invests around $2.5million per year into its cultural program with free events including the Joondalup Festival, Kaleidoscope, Spring and Twilight Markets, Little Feet Festival, Urban Couture program, Community Art Exhibition, Community Invitation Art Award, Music in the Park concerts, NAIDOC Week activities, Community Choral Project and the Arts in Focus program.

About the show

Together for a mere 10 years, The Beatles led a musical revolution that radically transformed the sound and significance of rock and roll.

All You Need Is Love was the ecstatic pop symphony The Beatles wrote to throw their arms around the world on the first global satellite TV link at the height of 1967’s summer of love. It was the inspiration for this dazzling and daring new large-scale concert production.

From the Producers of The White Album Concert, Beatles Back2Back, Rubber Soul Revolver and most recently Beatles First 5, All You Need is Love features the vocal brilliance of Jack Jones, Wes Carr, Rai Thistlethwayte and Jackson Thomas accompanied by the Perth Symphony Orchestra.

The songs are carefully chosen from The Beatles’ canon for their instrumentation and arrangements involving a full orchestra seamlessly integrated with The Beatles’ own rock sensibility.

From the intimacy of Yesterday to the exuberance of Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band, the childlike whimsy of Yellow Submarine to the intoxicating romance of Something.

The limitations of the primitive recording technology of the day led to epic productions and fed into The Beatles’ creative genius and experimentation – from the breathtaking orchestrations of Eleanor Rigby and Across the Universe, to the epic proportions of A Day in the Life.
