COVID-19 update, Thursday 19 March


Following updated advice from the Federal Government and the Department of Health WA (DoH), the City of Joondalup has cancelled the remainder of its sports season competitions at Craigie Leisure Centre, effective immediately.

An email has been sent to team organisers advising them of this decision.

To comply with social distance requirements, the City has also

  • Reduced the capacity of group fitness and RPM classes by up to 50%
  • Reduced the length of group fitness classes to allow for extra cleaning of the studios and equipment
  • Suspended swimming lessons until Tuesday 28 April 2020
  • Cancelled the remainder of the short courses term program

The City will also closely monitor the capacity of the gym, creche and swimming pools.


In addition, the City of Joondalup has suspended all Library programs and events, effective Saturday 21 March until Sunday 31 May 2020.

All four Libraries (Duncraig, Joondalup, Whitford, Woodvale) are still open for business for physical loans, public computer access and WiFi. The Books on Wheels service is committed to continuing service to the City’s most vulnerable community members.

Library members can access eBooks, audiobooks, magazines and streaming services are all available online for FREE.

Community Development

The City has cancelled upcoming community development events including the Live and Learn Showcase, Communities in Focus workshops and Advanced Care Planning Workshop.

Please note, the Community Transport program will continue at the present time.

Youth Services

Youth Services has suspended various services and events effective Monday 23 March – Monday 27 April 2020.

These include:

  • EDGE Youth Centre
  • Music EDGE
  • Freestyle EDGE
  • Dungeons and Dragons
  • Music Therapy
  • Anchors Youth Centre
  • My Life
  • Friday Night Drop-in
  • April School Holiday Program
  • Youth Truck
  • School visits
  • Attendance at community events
  • Attendance at Shepherds Bush, Mirror Park Skate Park, Beldon Park, Juniper Park and Kinross Skate Park
  • Defeat the Beat event.

The City is working on creative and different ways to engage with young people differently during this time.

The City will continue to be guided by the Federal Government and Department of Health WA (DoH) in relation to appropriate responses relating to the COVID-19/issue.
