In January 1945, after a grueling convoy escort duty, the crews of the four Royal Navy destroyers Zambesi, Zealous, Zest and Sioux were looking forward to a break. What followed is an amazing story of bravery and selflessness that resulted in the safe rescue of nineteen Norwegian men, women, and children.
Using a mix of contemporary and present-day photos, this presentation traces the story of this multiple rescues, and looks at a few stories of the survivors as they are today.
