The reclassification of Pluto as a "dwarf planet" in 2006 continues to generate considerable discussion 15 years later. Pluto itself is as fascinating as it ever was, regardless of what we choose to call it, and the history of what was considered a "planet" is a long and often surprising one, featuring Babylonian sheep, Canadian salamanders, and a planet named George.
