Over the past two decades, cruising has grown at a remarkable rate. By 2019 there were more new cruise ships under construction than ever before, and cruise ships had become common sight in ports around the world - including Australia - adding millions into local economies.

But the COVID-19 pandemic significantly impacted the cruise industry.  Over the last year we have seen cruise ships laid up - lingering nearly empty off the coasts of the UK, USA and Philippines. Some ships were even lost to the scrappers torch, due to the huge impact of the shutdown.

But what’s been happening aboard the 300 or so cruise ships that remain laid up? Who is working on the “empty” ships and what is being done to prepare cruise ships to return to passenger service?

Join Chris Frame to find out how the cruise industry has survived the pandemic and what the plans are for the future.
