Draft Joondalup Design Review Panel Local Planning Policy
The City of Joondalup is seeking feedback on the draft Joondalup Design Review Panel Local Planning Policy.
The City has an existing Joondalup Design Advisory Panel that was established by Council in 2008 to provide design advice on development proposals within the City of Joondalup by Council-appointed industry representatives. Since that time, the name of the panel has been modified to the Joondalup Design Reference Panel, with the types of development proposals considered also modified to reflect changes within the planning framework.
In 2019, the State Government released its Design Review Guide which provides guidance for local governments on the structure and operation of design review processes, with an emphasis on the use of design review panels.
The draft Joondalup Design Review Panel Local Planning Policy has been developed to better align the operation of the City’s existing design review panel with the Design Review Guide, and to ensure that feedback on development proposals is provided early in the design process.
The proposed policy seeks to:
- Provide an outline on the role of the Joondalup Design Review Panel
- Provide details on the types of planning proposals to be considered and when those proposals are to be considered by the panel
- Provide details on the matters the panel are to consider when reviewing a planning proposal.
A copy of the policy can be viewed below. The report to Council can be found online.
