Business Forum – Register Online

The Hon. Karen Andrews MP, Minister for Industry, Science and Technology, will provide the keynote address at the City of Joondalup’s first business breakfast of the year at Joondalup Resort on Thursday 12 March.

More than 150 members of the local business community and key City stakeholders are expected to attend the Forum where Minister Andrews will share some of the Federal Government’s key programs and initiatives driving innovation in the economy.

With the City of Joondalup boasting Australia’s largest cyber security talent pipeline and cutting-edge research capability, businesses in the region are uniquely placed to leverage innovative technologies to drive growth.

Bringing innovation into a business can save time and money, build competitive advantage and, ultimately, increase the likelihood that a business will succeed.

Joondalup Mayor Albert Jacob said technological advances in areas such as artificial intelligence, automation and cyber were transforming industries, creating new opportunities and changing the skills required for business success.

“In this economic climate, innovation is an essential cornerstone of sustained economic growth and prosperity,” he said.

The Business Forum will include an interactive panel discussion featuring Minister Andrews, Silvana Macri from Stay Cyber Safe, Glenn Murray from Sapien Cyber and Pia Turcinov from Women in Technology WA.

Apart from a strong cyber emphasis there will be discussion about getting more girls involved in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) learning, such as the recent announcement from ECU Joondalup that two $10,000 scholarships will be offered to entice more women to study cybersecurity.

The Forum also gives an opportunity for local businesses to access information from a range of support organisations and networks.

Registrations for attendance can be made at joondalup.wa.gov.au (Business section) by Monday 9 March 2020.
