Get your kids and teens reading better with Better Reading

Each year Australia’s Better Reading asks young readers and their families to vote for their favourite book. This year they received close to 5,000 entries, making this Top 50 Young Adult and Kids Reads a great source and guide to the most popular titles.

The results reveal the ongoing popularity of old favourites such as, The Gruffalo, Charlotte’s Web, and Once. In addition, three beloved titles by Roald Dahl also making the list; Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Matilda and The BFG. Newcomers included Lenny’s Book of Everything and Whisper.

The votes also revealed that 21 of the titles were written by female authors, and 20 were written by Australians, such as John Marsden, Aaron Blabey, Mem Fox and Anh Do.

The most popular series were Harry Potter, closely followed by The Magic Faraway Tree, Alice Miranda and the Treehouse series.
