Ideas required to activate City centre

Categories:

What is your big idea for the Joondalup City Centre? What works and what doesn’t?

What is your vision? Has that vision changed? Would more restaurants, small bars, boutique shops or public art encourage you to spend more time in Joondalup?

These are just some of the questions the City of Joondalup wants community members, business owners and visitors to address as it works towards the development of its inaugural place activation plan.

The Joondalup City Centre Place Activation Plan (JCCPAP) will provide the City with guidance on how it can work with the community and local businesses to achieve greater activation and vibrancy in the area of the City bounded by Shenton Avenue, Lakeside Drive, Central Park and Grand Boulevard/McLarty Avenue.

“The project is a great opportunity for the City to work with the community and local businesses to revitalise and improve the heartbeat of Joondalup – the City Centre,” Joondalup Mayor Albert Jacob said.

“Feedback will be used to develop a series of initiatives that support liveability, community connection, and economic vibrancy; ideas that could inform future investment and operational and capital works projects.”

There are several ways the community can get involved. People are encouraged to visit the JCCPAP project page on the City’s website, joondalup.wa.gov.au where they can complete the online survey and pin their ideas and feedback on a digital place map. A separate survey is available for business owners.

FREE collaborative workshops will be held at Joondalup Library on Saturday 29 May and Sunday 12 June.

Registrations for these sessions are essential via an EOI process on the project page.

Online feedback will be accepted until Friday 21 May.

This pilot project will establish a framework and process for developing activation plans in other places and neighbourhoods across the City’s 22 suburbs.
