Inside-Out Billboard Artwork Commission by Naomi Grant

As part of the Inside-Out Billboard Project, a new artwork by Naomi Grant has been installed on the façade of the Joondalup Library.

For this commission, the artist explored themes based on her interest in the interpreting landscapes and waterscape of Australia. With a background in textiles, Grant often relays the beauty, pattern and colour she sees in the environment. She creates her artwork by painting in acrylic and incorporating collage, layering coloured tissue paper over the painted surface.

This artwork is based on a setting at Picnic Cove, Lake Joondalup. The artists intention was to capture the beauty, tranquillity and regeneration of the lake that so many people, animals and plants rely on.

Dita E Hagedorn’s Illusion, commissioned by the City of Joondalup in 2018, has been re-installed as part of the Inside-Out Billboard Project at the Joondalup Law Courts.
