2019 Valentine’s Concert Event Information

Ticketing

All patrons aged six years and over require a ticket to gain entry to the event. Patrons can present their ticket in hard copy or present their ticket on an electronic device to gain entry to the event. If the patron chooses to present tickets on an electronic device, they must consider the following:

  • Turn the brightness up to high to ensure the scanners can pick up the barcode
  • Have the e-ticket open with the barcode clearly displayed for scanning by the gate staff
  • Avoid using a device with a badly cracked screen.

Identification requirements

Residents/ratepayers and concession card holders must present valid identification to gain entry to the venue, along with their tickets.

Any residents/ratepayers who have purchased tickets for non-residents must arrive with their guests in order to verify the purchase.

Accepted forms of identification includes:

  • Valid driver’s license that lists a City of Joondalup address; or
  • Valid photo identification and proof of residential status (e.g. bill or letter).
  • Current rates notice and valid photo identification.
  • Valid concession card with proof of residential status (e.g. bill or letter)

Accepted concession cards include seniors cards, pensioner concession card, student card, carer card, health care card and Department of Veteran’s Affairs cards.

Ticket sales

Online ticket sales will remain active until 7.30pm on the day of the concert however customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online to avoid queuing and potentially missing out on tickets.

Any remaining tickets will remain available for sale onsite via the box office unless sold out beforehand, the box office is available from 5.00pm on the day of the concert and closes at 7.30pm.

Getting to the concert

The Valentine’s Concert is held on the picturesque grounds of the Joondalup Resort accessible from Country Club Boulevard, Connolly. As access to the venue is limited patrons are encouraged where possible to walk, carpool or utilise the shuttle bus service.

To access the event site all vehicles will be directed by traffic management to drive down Country Club Boulevard, left onto Spyglass Grove before turning into the Country Club car park. At this point traffic controllers and signage will direct drivers to event parking, drop-off/pick-up points, ACROD and accessible parking locations.

If you are driving please allow additional time to enter the venue and park before the concert and additional time to exit at the end of the concert. The City appreciates your patience when exiting the venue, to ensure the safety for all, why not enjoy the picturesque grounds of the Joondalup Resort a little longer after the concert finishes and avoid the traffic leaving the venue.

Parking

The event car park opens at 4.30pm, please note any vehicles onsite earlier will not be permitted access.

Event parking is available on the grounds of the Joondalup Country Club, follow the direction of traffic controllers and signage to access event parking.

Please be mindful of local residents as you enter and leave the venue, all footpaths, medians and driveways in the surrounding streets of the concert venue must remain accessible for residents at all times. City Rangers will be patrolling the area and where required will issue fines for vehicles that park illegally.

Drop-off/pick-up point

An allocated drop-off/pick-up point is available adjacent to the Joondalup Country Club, accessible from Spyglass Grove. Please follow the direction of traffic controllers and signage.

Shuttle bus

Enjoy the free shuttle bus service, departing every 30 minutes from Joondalup Train Station from 4.30pm until 8.00pm, and returning 9.00pm until 11.00pm. Buses will depart from bus stand 10. No pre-registration for shuttle bus services necessary. See site map below for shuttle bus stop at the Joondalup Resort.

Please note an accessible bus service is also provided that includes a hydraulic wheelchair lift. See accessible event information for further information on accessible friendly services available for the event.

Event information

  • Car park open – 4.30pm
  • Gates open – 5.00pm
  • Concert commences – 7.00pm
  • Interval (30 minutes) – 8.30pm
  • Set two commences – 9.00pm

The performance consist of two one-hour sets with a 30-minute interval. Approximate finish time is 10.00pm.

Seating

Gates open at 5.00pm; patrons are not permitted to enter the concert area prior to this time. Any blankets or chairs placed on the green prior to gates opening at 5.00pm will be removed by event staff.

Seating is not reserved. Seating is available on a first come first served basis and patrons who sit in areas that are unsafe will be asked to relocate. Accessible viewing is provided at the venue. The area is offered to patrons with a disability and a guest, on a first come first served basis.

Low chairs (seat no more than 15cm from the ground) are permitted toward the front of the seating area. Higher chairs and prams (unless fully disassembled) are only permitted toward the rear of the seating area.

House rules

Please be aware the concert venue is a privately-owned golf club and resort complex and patrons should behave in a manner befitting the environment. Neat casual attire is a requirement. For the enjoyment of all patrons the City asks that mobile phones are turned to silent during the performance.

The Valentine’s Concert is an adult event and children’s entertainment is not provided. Children under 16 must be under close parental supervision at all times. Ball sports are not permitted in any area of the venue during the concert.

Permitted items:

  • Cabin-sized esky or cooler bags (up to 26L in size) are permitted
  • Small backpacks and bags only
  • Picnic rugs
  • Low chairs (seat no more than 15cm from the ground) are permitted toward the front of the seating area
  • Higher chairs and prams (unless fully disassembled) are only permitted toward the rear of the seating area. Patrons with high seating will be asked to move by security if obstructing the view of others in low seating areas.

The following items are not permitted into the venue and will be confiscated:

  • Tables
  • Umbrellas
  • Wine spikes
  • Banana lounges
  • Tents and sun shelters
  • Animals (except for assistance animals)
  • Dangerous items (e.g. weapons, fireworks, laser pointers)
  • Professional audio and video recording devices

Food vendors

A range of delicious food and beverage options will be available for purchase as follows:

Picnics are also welcome, however, no wine spikes are permitted on the greens. Patrons are permitted to bring their own alcohol to enjoy with a picnic however all alcohol must be consumed responsibly. Any patron who appears to be adversely affected by alcohol and is behaving in an offensive manner may be removed from the Venue.

Alcoholic beverages can be purchased from the Country Club, please see gate attendants for a pass out to access the Country Club.

Accessible event information

Accessible parking will be available onsite in the golf club car park. Please note this is approximately 240 meters from the accessible seating area via a paved pathway. A valid ACROD pass must be displayed to access this parking.

Please note the Valentine’s Concert is held on a golf fairway. Therefore, there are some sloped and uneven areas.

An accessible viewing area is provided at the venue. The area is offered to patrons with a disability and an accompanying guest with a companion card, on a first come first served basis.

Accessible event toilets will be provided adjacent to the concert site.

Event cancellation

The Concert shall proceed “rain or shine” unless conditions become dangerous. Should the concert be cancelled, rescheduling is not guaranteed. In the event of a rescheduled performance, tickets will remain valid. If the event is cancelled all Patrons are eligible for a refund and details of the refund process will be communicated via Ticketbooth and the City’s website and social media platforms.
