More than 180 members of the local business community and key City stakeholders attended the City’s first business forum of the year at Joondalup Resort on Friday 7 May 2021, where keynote speaker Bernard Salt AM took the audience on a journey into the future.
Mr Salt used the forum to talk about the economic outlook for Joondalup and Perth’s northern corridor. To make him feel welcome – it had been more than 12 months since an interstate guest had addressed a business forum – the City made sure there was “smashed avocado” on the menu, paying homage to Mr Salt’s popular catchphrase.
A highly regarded social commentator, who provides advice on demographic, consumer and social trends for businesses across Australia, Mr Salt investigated and explained how the future economy could be shaped by the emerging statistics, and how the City of Joondalup can benefit.
Facilitated by Master of Ceremonies Pia Turcinov, Mr Salt also took part in an interactive panel discussion with City of Joondalup Chief Executive Officer James Pearson and Michelle Hoad, the Managing Director of North Metropolitan TAFE. Ms Turcinov helped facilitate a truly interactive discussion, with live surveys and questions from the audience adding to the robust discussion.
Following the breakfast, and panel; attendees could network and connect with our Expo participants which included; Joondalup Business Association, North Metro TAFE, Small Business Development Corporation and, WA Leaders, as well as local businesses such as Cailo Chocolate, Engaging Education, Hillarys Yacht Club, Elite Nails, and Saffron Savor.
