Poverty exists. Poverty hurts us all. We can all do something about it.
More than 270,000 people in Western Australia, including 55,000 children, are living in poverty (Source: Western Australian Council of Social Service 2021). Anti-Poverty Week raises awareness of the issues faced by people experiencing poverty and what the community can do to make a difference. The campaign this year highlights the need for income support to be above the poverty line and for continued and increased investment in social housing.
You can help raise awareness in WA and make a difference, visit the Anti Poverty Week website for more information.
If you or anyone you know may be experiencing hardship, the City of Joondalup in partnership with the City of Wanneroo have produced a Hardship and Homelessness Services booklet. This free and online resource provides information on vital support services available within the region.
