Joondalup Business Forum: Emerge Stronger – Joondalup’s Economic Recovery
About 75 attendees, mainly members of the local business community, attended the City’s second business forum of 2020 – and the first forum the City has hosted online – Emerge Stronger – Joondalup’s Economic Recovery
The forum featured a keynote address by economist-in-residence, Mark Wallace, who spoke about the importance of business adaptability and economic resilience as the region emerges from the COVID-19 challenge.
Gavin Hegney, the founder and chair of Hegney Property Group; Anthony Rowbottam, General Manager Development, WA for Lendlease and Joondalup Business Association President Neil Gerrard took part in a panel discussion about the many challenges businesses in the region are currently experiencing.
The City also launched an online platform designed to promote, connect and grow businesses that are based and/or trade within the City of Joondalup at the forum. The Joondalup Business Catalogue is a cloud-based platform linked to the City’s website which offers a simple way for people to search for – and connect to – local businesses and services.
Joondalup Mayor Albert Jacob encouraged local businesses to register their business details in the Joondalup Business Catalogue.
By doing so, they can promote their business with a free listing. They are also able to connect to business opportunities and use a diagnostic tool to ascertain whether they are on track to take advantage of emerging digital, destination and global opportunities.
“The catalogue provides an opportunity to understand gaps of readiness in businesses that are aligned to the City’s economic development themes: Global, Digital and Destination City,” Mayor Jacob said.
“Once there is a comprehensive list of local businesses in the catalogue, a promotional campaign will ensure that the local community, and visitors to the region, know where to search for Joondalup businesses and where they can ‘buy local’.”
