Public Art Commission

Calling for Expressions of Interest
$20,000 artist fee

As part of the refurbishment of Craigie Leisure Centre, the City of Joondalup is commissioning an original artwork by a Western Australian artist for permanent public display.

The commissioned artwork will be installed on the windows of the refurbished gym and will be reproduced / printed using ceramic ink and fused onto glass prior to installation. The completed artwork will be visible from both sides of the glass – from the interior of the gym and from the carpark outside.

The commissioning process will include a selection process from submitted Expressions of Interests (EOIs). From the EOIs received, a selection of artists (up to four) will be invited to submit an artwork proposal for consideration of the commission. The shortlisted artists will be encouraged to respond to an artist brief.

Each shortlisted artist will receive a development fee of $1,500 (exclusive of GST). The commissioned artist will receive a further artist fee of $20,000 (exclusive of GST). This fee is also exclusive of costs relating to printing, provisioning of glass and installation. The artist fee includes any costs incurred by the artist in either research relating to the commission or the production of the artwork prior to printing and installation.

Expressions of Interest close Monday 9 March 2020, 5.00pm

Expressions of Interest can be submitted via the online form below. Late submissions will not be accepted.
Please read the Expressions of Interest Information Sheet prior to submitting your EOI form.
