Summer reading challenge
The City of Joondalup Libraries Summer Reading Challenge will run from Sunday 1 December 2019 to Friday 31 January 2020. The aim is to encourage children to discover great authors and illustrators of picture books, junior fiction and non-fiction.
Are you up for the challenge?
- Kindergarten to year three students – aim to read for 10 hours on your own or with your family
- Year four to year six students – aim to read for 15 hours
Pick up a reading log from your local library, or download it – Summer reading challenge A5 Booklet.
Participation in the challenge is free.
If you need some reading inspiration, have a look at our recommended reads for both children and young adults.
Win a book voucher
All completed reading logs have a chance to win one of five $25 book vouchers.
Return your completed reading log to go into the prize draw. The winning readers will be drawn on Friday 31 January 2020. Visit your local library during the summer holidays, pick up a Summer Reading Challenge reading log and start reading today.
Summer reading challenge party with James Foley
All children that return a complete summer reading log will also be invited to attend the summer reading challenge closing party. James Foley, author and illustrator will entertain and share his experiences as an author or illustrator.
