Social media guidelines
The City’s social media platforms, such as Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, Instagram, and LinkedIn, are designed to encourage and foster meaningful interaction and engagement with the local community, serving as a place for discussion, feedback, questions and exchanging ideas. The instantaneous nature of social media allows the City to respond to the changing needs of our residents and stakeholders. The City’s social media channels also provide information on City services, events, programs, initiatives and news.

Residents who want to request works or maintenance should contact the City on 9400 4000 or via email info@joondalup.wa.gov.au.
Guidelines for visitors and users
When interacting with social media platforms, the City requests that you:
- Exercise courtesy
- Do not post your personal address or phone number
- Acknowledge that the City cannot check the accuracy of every post and does not take any responsibility for reliance on posts from its followers
- Adhere to guidelines specified in the social media platform. The City of Joondalup recommends understanding the privacy setting for each platform you engage in and choosing appropriate options to protect your personal details and shared content.
The City of Joondalup does not accept responsibility for external comments on its social media channels. These are not representative of the opinions or views of the City of Joondalup, nor does the City make any warranty to their accuracy.
Terms of use
Posts may be deleted at the City of Joondalup’s discretion if they contain:
- Defamatory or otherwise unlawful content that violates laws regarding harassment, discrimination, racial vilification, privacy or contempt. The City of Joondalup reserves the right to close comments on posts that may elicit harmful, defamatory or otherwise unlawful user contributions;
- Violent, obscene, profane, hateful, derogatory, racist or sexist language links or images;
- Information that may compromise the safety or security of the public;
- Intentionally false or misleading;
- Any discussion or promotion of behaviour that is unlawful;
- Comments that threaten or defame any person or organisation;
- Solicitations, advertisements, endorsements or spam;
- Encouragement or glamorisation of the use of alcohol, tobacco, or illegal drugs;
- Inappropriate, off-topic, repetitive or vexatious;
- Deliberate provocation of other community members;
- Repetitive posts copied and pasted or duplicated by single or multiple users;
- Impersonating someone else;
- Comments posted by a fake account; and
- Any other inappropriate content or comments as determined in City of Joondalup.
By “liking or following” any of the City’s social media channels you acknowledge the terms outlined above. Users who do not comply with these guidelines will be blocked from the social media channel at the discretion of the City.
