Level up over the September school holidays!
Woodvale Library is running a series of free youth workshops over the September school holidays to empower young people and support them in developing skills, knowledge and confidence as they prepare to enter the workforce. You are also invited to tell us what programs and services you would like to see held at the Joondalup Libraries.
Kickstart your Career: Crush it in customer care
Thursday 26 September, 11am-2pm
Woodvale Library
Free. Registration required.
The workshop will be delivered by Ava from Edge Communication.
Attendees will learn:
- the vital link between internal and external customer service
- how to convey a positive first impression
- how to build rapport and trust
- the importance of taking ownership
- the 3Vs of communication – verbal, vocal, visual
- how to use customer focused language to convey a yes-we-can attitude.
- how to communicate effectively over the telephone
- how to de-escalate customer dissatisfaction with the use of empathy.
Program
11am-12.30pm – Crush it in customer service.
12.30pm-1pm – Lunch supplied.
1pm-2pm – Workshop – Bringing young people back to the library.

Training Room (located next door to the café)
Attendees will learn:
- espresso extraction – how to make a good espresso
- milk frothing – the do’s and don’ts of milk frothing and the different styles required for different coffees
- coffee culture – learn about the different coffee drinks available, their origins, and how to make them
- cleaning – Learn the correct cleaning procedures to keep your coffee machine well maintained
- grinder – understand the grinder and how to dial it in
- roasting house facility tour – Time permitting, students will receive a brief tour of the roasting facility
- certificate of completion.
Parking is available at the rear of the building.
Please wear enclosed footwear and comfortable clothing. Bring a notepad and pen to take notes.
