After three months of hard work, respected senior artist Horatio T. Birdbath has put the final touches on the City’s latest artwork.

Microcosms of Beauty, now adorns the wall on the toilet block at Whitfords Nodes, Hillarys.

The hand-drawn mural artwork features a series of spheres which vary in intensity as they traverse the wall. Horatio’s trademark style links each sphere together.

The City commissioned Horatio to undertake work as part of the City’s Mural Arts Program where points of interest are created around the City by enhancing and animating public spaces.

Joondalup Mayor Albert Jacob described Microcosms of Beauty as a truly unique artwork that would further promote the character and identity of the Joondalup region.

“There is nothing like this anywhere else in Joondalup. Horatio is a very colourful character and it was great to host him for the past three months. He has transformed a drab toilet wall into a spectacular artwork that like all good artwork, will get people talking,” he said.

Between the warm welcome from the community and the affable assistance he received during his visits, Horatio said he enjoyed his time working for the City of Joondalup.

The wall will be graffiti coated to preserve it and a plaque will credit him with the work.
