Parks and reserves

The City maintains in excess of 300 parks and reserves, for the use and enjoyment of residents, sporting clubs and community organisations.

The City’s recreational parkland areas are great for family picnics and barbecues or just to relax and walk the dog (dogs are permitted at most of the City’s parks).

Sports parks are used by a wide range of sporting codes and activities. Parks can be booked for sporting fixtures, community events and casual use. Conditions apply, and applications need to be made for hire.

The City has a range of beautiful parks for weddings, or simply for a picnic, barbecue and a playground for the kids.

Hire a park

Do I need a park booking?

You only require a booking on a park if the following applies:

  • Number of guests attending is more than 50 people.
  • A request to consume alcohol is required.
  • Any entertainment or infrastructure is to be brought onto the park, such as a bouncy castle, petting zoo, face painter, etc.
  • A high-risk birthday celebration, such as sixteenth, eighteenth, twenty-first.
  • Performing a wedding ceremony.
  • If you are a commercial business.

Please note that even with a booking it is public open space and the City does not guarantee exclusive use or allow any area to be cordon off.

Please note the City does not take bookings for tables, gazebos and barbeques located on the reserve and these are on a first come first served basis.

All BBQs provided by the City are electric, free to use and maintained/cleaned regularly – hirers are not permitted to supply their own barbeques.
