Premier to speak at City’s business forum

The Hon. Mark McGowan MLA, Premier of Western Australia, will provide the keynote address at the City of Joondalup’s second business breakfast of the year at Joondalup Resort on Thursday 27 June.

More than 150 members of the local business community and key City stakeholders are expected to attend the breakfast forum where Premier McGowan will share an overview of the State Government’s Our Priorities: Sharing Prosperity program and talk about the anticipated benefits it will bring to the City of Joondalup and northern corridor – one of the fastest growing regions per population in Australia.

Joondalup Mayor Albert Jacob said it was testament to the high calibre of the City’s business forums in recent years that they were able to secure Premier McGowan as a keynote speaker.

“Our business forums have gone from strength to strength and are widely recognised by the local business community as professional and engaging events that provide highly relevant information. It’s a real coup for our City’s business community to have the chance to hear directly from the Premier at the next forum,” he said.

“A collaborative approach between the State and Local Governments, as well as strategic stakeholders, will help provide opportunity, security and confidence for businesses to help drive jobs growth and a stronger economy.”

Mayor Jacob said the Western Australian Government had a target of creating 150,000 new jobs in the State by 2023-24 and the City of Joondalup was advancing towards its target of 45,000 jobs in the Joondalup City Centre by 2050.

He said there were already some notable areas of alignment between the State Government’s priorities and City of Joondalup strategic focus areas.

“International business development opportunities in industry sectors such as education, tourism, health and medical, and further development of the Joondalup Innovation Hub, which has a current focus on cyber security, are prime examples,” he said.

The forum will also be an opportunity for local businesses to access information from a range of business support organisations.
